Dropping the kilos is a constant struggle for many people. One kilo here, one kilo there, it just doesn’t add up to what people expect when they follow a solid plan of diet and exercise. The reason for this may be that the plan is not being followed exactly as intended. Cutting corners now and then is not so unusual. Everyone is guilty of this at least once. A dieter may have one extra bite of that pizza this week and a few more bites of fruit the next week. It all adds up eventually to unwanted kilos.
Besides the obvious tricks to losing weight, including portion control and daily exercise, there are other ideas that can be helpful if you stick to them. To begin with, try to eat before you get hungry. This can be accomplished by eating five or six small meals throughout the day. Not only does it curb hunger and prevent you from raiding the snack shelf, it will also keep blood sugars even throughout the day.
When you do sit down for a regular meal, be sure to slowly chew your food. By slowing down, it is easier for the brain to tell you when your stomach is full. Next, drop all sugary drinks from your diet. Even diet soda is the enemy. Research has shown that, simply because the can says “diet”, consumers believe they can double the quantity that they drink.
Be sure to choose whole grain cereals and other carbohydrates. Whole grain contains fibre that will fill you up faster than its counterparts. Whole grain also contains other healthy components, such as vitamins and minerals. Skip a fat-laden dessert and choose Greek yogurt instead. With an abundance of protein and a ton of flavours to choose from, you will be a fan in no time. The key is moderation.
